April 2022 DG Newsletter
Dear fellow Rotarians, partners and friends of Rotary
As things slowly begin to return to some sort of “normal”, Jenny and I are once again able
to conduct our DG visits face-to-face. It is wonderful to be welcomed into clubs and we
are enjoying our journey. For those club visits which had to be conducted through zoom,
we look forward to catching up with you in person as soon as we can find suitable dates. We are about to
embark on visits to Broken Hill and Sunraysia.
The new promotional materials ordered by clubs have been delivered
and I encourage clubs to make the most of these high-quality products
to continue to promote their club and the wonderful work they are
doing out in the community. If you have not applied for the balance
of your Public Image money, please make it a priority.
I was recently informed of a good news story from RC of Strathalbyn. The club have supplied and installed
a defibrillator machine in the town for the use of those in need. They were
recently contacted by a member of the public who had urgent need of the
defibrillator for a member of their family. Unfortunately, the life of Andrew was
lost, but the family are forever grateful that they were able to access the machine
in their time of need and the hope they were able to temporarily gain by having
quick access to the machine put in place by the Club. In appreciation, the family
requested that memorial tributes be in the way of donations to allow the Rotary
club of Strathalbyn to purchase a second machine for the town.
For those who have not heard, I’m pleased to announce that Lenard Sciancalepore
will be continuing in the role of DRR for District 9510 for the upcoming Rotary year.
Lenard has already shown his enthusiasm and commitment to this role in our current
Rotary year and we congratulate Lenard on his appointment and look forward to his
continued efforts in the role. Lenard will be supported by District Rotaract chair,
Julie Johnson for the remainder of this year.
On the 9th of March – early in the morning – Jenny and I
attended the Women in Rotary breakfast celebrating
International Women’s Day. The speaker was DR Trudy Lin
– a specialist Dentist treating patients with special needs. Her presentation was
excellent as she challenged us to look at the large number of people in our society
with special needs and how they are treated.
The 2021 Riverland & Mallee Vocational
Awards were held recently organized by
the Rotary Club of Berri and this event is
now in its 39th year. The highly successful
evening saw a group of 200 in attendance, with Kelsey Wade and Riley Thomson jointly awarded the 2021
continued over....
