Apprentice of the Year award. The full list of winners and runners up for each of the categories is available
from the RC of Berri. Unfortunately, Jenny and I were unable to attend and we thank PDG Jane Owens and
David who attended the evening on our behalf and helped celebrate the achievements of the awardees
and their families. This is always a highly successful evening with amazing support from sponsors and the
employers of these exceptional group of people.
Although restrictions are lifting further, I ask that you remain aware that the virus is still present in the
community and our everyday lives. Please continue to keep up to date with the current government
requirements. This will help keep you, your families and your club members safe.
Thank you to all of those who attended the Conference over the weekend just past in the Barossa Valley.
Jenny and I have already had lots of amazing feedback from many who attended telling us what a huge
success the conference was.
The Rotary International Presidents Personal Representative
for our conference was PDG Dennis Shore and his wife Lynda.
I thank PDG Peter Ochota and Meredith for agreeing to be
the aides for Dennis and Lynda. Jenny and I enjoyed the
opportunity to spend some time with Dennis and Lynda.
They were very generous with their time and participated in all of our conference activities so they could
experience what Dennis called “the Vibe” of our conference.
There were many highlights during the Conference. The Quiz night certainly challenged our brains and I
thank Brian and Heather Wheatley and the RC of Regency Park for running the night for us.
The Gala Dinner was a fantastic night; the band “The Cast”
were excellent, the decorations were amazing and the food
was delicious.
Thank you to Elizabeth Gagliardi from RC of Campbelltown
and her team for all of their hard work.
Jenny and I would like to thank all of the presenters at the
Conference, in particular our keynote speakers.
Their presentations challenged us, encouraged us, made
us laugh and some made us cry. I would particularly like to
acknowledge the Honourable Martin Hamilton-Smith (wonder where that connection came from) for
stepping in at the last moment when one of our speakers Dr Trudy Lin was unable to attend due to COVID.
The Rotary Showcase, once again, highlighted many of
the projects that Rotary has to offer clubs to participate
in and we thank all of the Rotary clubs who put stands
in the Showcase.
