Activity Description: Solar Panels for Epilepsy Centre SA Building
Activity Location: Flinders Park South Australia
Kidman Park Rotary supplied and installed a 10.56kW solar system at The
Epilepsy Centre SA Head Office at 274 Grange Road, Flinders Park
resulting in negligible power bills enabling a diversion scarce monies to
client services each quarter. The Centre receives no Government funding
at all. This saving of some $6500 annually, will benefit their clients.
The original quotation request was for5.28kw system for a cost of $6,070.
However, a larger system for 10.56kw was installed at an additional cost
of only $ 2,530. This larger system was made possible after we discovered
the building had 3 phase power available and now covers 100% of their
electricity cos.
In addition, we have negotiated with the landlord a 2% reduction in rent
that took effect after the installation of the panels on the landlords
building resulting in an additional $500 saving each year. The lease is 5
years, however the landlord has now offered another 5 years in view of
this upgrade. This solar upgrade is the ultimate sustainability project
that will produce savings for many years.

Epilepsy patients receive no money from State or Federal
Governments. Epilepsy sufferers are not eligible for the
NDIS. The Epilepsy Centre receives no government funding.
The beneficiaries are the clients (and their carers) of The
Epilepsy Centre who suffer from epileptic seizures and have the
ever present possibility of dying from an event at night. The need
has been established by medical research over many years.
The carers of epilepsy sufferers will benefit through better sleep
and less worry, while the sufferers themselves will have a better
outcome through early warning and intervention by their carer
or parent. Piezoelectric L-4060SL sensor, the patented dynamic thin film
