Australia Day Honours




        PDGs Wendy Gaborit and Peter Rostron are
        congratulated for receiving OAMs in the
        Australia Day Honours. Wendy is a member
        of RC Mobilong, the first female Governor of
        D9520 in 2013-14, a strong advocate and
        trainer, especially in leadership and strategic
        planning and also served as RI Public Image
        Coordinator for Australia.  Peter is a member of RC Tea Tree Gully, PDG 2002-03 for D9500, served in a
        number of roles for RAWCS and was a trustee for the Australian Rotary Foundation Trust.  He was also
        a leader for youth development in TTG.


        Patricia Chigwidden of RC Victor Harbor, joined the club 6 years ago also received an OAM for her services
        to local government and the Victor Harbor community.


        A more detailed story on both Rotary leaders will appear in the March issue.

        The RC Victor Harbor received the best community event award for its annual art show  In the district
        Council of Victor Harbor Australian Day Awards.  It held its 42nd art show in January this year.  The club
        took on the COVID risk and decided to proceed with the show which had one of the best sales ever with
        over $300,000 of art sold and over 1500 hours of volunteer’s time from club members.


        The RC Murray Bridge long serving member John Scarvelis, was honoured as Australian Citizen of the Year
        by the Rural City of Murray Bridge.

        John Rowley, President of RC Blakiston received a mayoral commendation from the District Council of
        Mt Barker.
