The Hills Inaugural Small Acreage Field Days
The inaugural Hills Small Acreage Field Days, a community initiative created by the RC Stirling was held in
Echunga on 24-25 September.
These Field Days were established to support residents of the Hills, local retailers and service providers
recovering from the economic consequences of bushfires and COVID-19. There is much to appreciate
about living in the Hills but also much to learn about how best to live sustainably and safely.
The event was packed with displays of equipment and services as well as information sessions and
‘how-to’ demonstrations on the many issues that rural residents face from pumps to irrigation, solar
power, vehicles and equipment, weed control and a theme of this year’s event - bushfire preparedness.
To promote Rotary service projects and membership, the district had a Rotary stand at the event.
District representatives manning the Rotary Stand included
DG Paul Thomas, Foundation Chair Marie-louise (M-L) Lees,
Youth Services Chair Damian Leach,
International Service Chair Tim Mee
and Public Image Chair Julie Johnson.
Despite some difficult weather conditions during the
preparation for the event, it was very successful
and is likely to be held again in 2 years.
Congratulations to all members involved at the RC Stirling.
