Constance Price from RC Tonsley has started a crocheting beanies project during the Covid-19 lockdown.
She and another Rotarian from Goolwa have already made a number of beanies, scarves, baby blankets
and pot plant holders and are encouraging other crocheters in clubs to take part.

       contact Constance on mobile 0422 827 929

The money from the sale of the goods is going to an animal

              Benefits of Strategic Planning

The Rotary Club of Hyde Park, ably led by President Neville Highett spent one of their first meetings this
year in planning mode. Neville highlighted the fact that the club had become a cheque book club and
wants to take it back to Rotary’s core business.

The evening started with Neville reminding members of his vision where each member will be part of ‘the
board’. Neville said, ‘with a club of 19 members we should all be decision makers and not have a small few
making decisions on behalf of everyone. We need to all be in this together’.

Each member wrote on sticky notes why they are part of Rotary and on another what motivates them as
Rotarians. Consensus was that they wish to be in Rotary to provide service, to do good in the world.
Their motivation is to enjoy fellowship with like minded people. This was followed by documenting what
service they want to be involved in and what social activities they enjoy. It became obvious that the club
needs a group to design a project/s and a group to organise social activities.

Discussion led to members realising they needed something to sell to prospective members and that
members will be drawn to the club by participating in active service. Members realised they would also
need to create a group to look at a cohort of people to target as prospective members. The meeting
finished with Neville asking people to contact him to advise which of the 3 groups they are willing to be
involved with. Future meetings will include looking at club branding and social media to highlight their
work and to ‘sell’ the club story of service through fellowship.

The work achieved lends itself to forming a strategic plan which every member has had input into and
therefore ownership of. The meeting had a positive vibe with energy I have not seen in the club before.

I am excited to be part of this club’s journey this year.
