Rotary Club of Stirling
47 years ago, the Rotary Club of Stirling with 25 members received its charter and hit the ground running!
Among its first projects, Rotary spearheaded the financing and development of the Pinoak Tiers Retirement
Village, today boasting 45 detached and semi detached units in a sylvan setting in the heart of the Stirling
township
The Club now with 34 active members, recently chartered an Interact Club at Heathfield High School,
presented cheques to local groups through its competitive Community Grants program, canvassed for funds
for Rotary’s Drought and Bushfire Relief campaigns and continues to support all manner of community
events.
Internationally, the Club, in partnership with neighbouring clubs, has provided water, sanitation, hygiene
and educational facilities to several communities in Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and Sumatra and
actively raises funds for End Polio Now.
The Club supports ShelterBox International financially but also makes other tangible contributions through
volunteering for direct fundraising through demonstrating disaster relief equipment at markets, fairs and
exhibitions in, and around, Adelaide. It also provides storage for tents and other disaster relief supplies in
its large shed which also serves to garage its large multipurpose catering van and BBQ trailer, seen regularly
throughout the community.
The Club’s current major project is organizing the region’s first ever Small Acreage Field Days to bring
together local industry and small acreage land holders over the weekend of 13, 14 March 2021.
