Rotary Club of Morialta
First formed in 1984 the Rotary club of Morialta
has 31 members and a long standing friendship
with the Rotary club of Usa in Japan.
With a number of great programs, most people
know about us through the kiosk at Thorndon Park.
Open on weekends, members volunteer their time
to contribute to the community and raise very
necessary funds.
Our two major flag ships now are our local project RC Morialta in Adelaide - PNG Midwifery
at the Community workshop and our International Leadership Buddy Project
project in PNG.
The Community Workshop is open Tuesday and
Thursday for morning and afternoon sessions and
Wednesday and Saturday mornings. (currently
closed due to COVID). Members meet to work on
their own woodwork projects or assist with other
projects. Some products are sold and sometimes
people in the community ask to have items re-
paired.
Our international project is supporting midwifes
in PNG. When midwife members of the Papua New
Guinea Midwives Society (PNGMS), reached out
to the Australian College of Midwives, to develop
leadership and advocacy training to address the

opportunity to assist. In 2017, with the assistance
of Rotary Foundation grants, the club developed a
3-year project, to provide 18 midwives in PNG
with a leadership and advocacy ‘buddy’ program.
We are looking to continue this project with
further support from clubs in the district.
